The Fae World: AU Talis: Lucy: Rescued?

This entry is part 1 of 4 in the Fae World: Talis AU: The Walking Dead collection

No matter how strong you were dealing with the walking dead was never a simple proposition. I fought, the way I always had, but I was tired. Being tired was what had killed my companions, and I wasn’t going to join them. Killing all of them, which might not even be possible, wasn’t something I needed to do, but creating myself a path was. With every kill I took another step forward, another step out of the pack I’d found myself trapped in the middle of. I felt like I was going to get out, at least until some of the fallen stood again. Of course they did. Right when I was close to freedom. For a moment, I’ll admit, I thought about giving up, but I couldn’t. I had to keep going.

“They said you hadn’t noticed, but I didn’t believe them until now.” Carl stepped out of the shadows as I made my way to the showers. “I thought, maybe, it was my age that was putting you off.” He studied me. “I could understand if it did, although this world…” Shrugging, he brushed a hand through his hair. “Everything that’s happened has changed people, including me. I’m not the person I was before things changed.”

The Fae World: AU Talis: Lila: Found

The sound of people at the door was what woke me. It had happened before, and it would happen again. Unfortunately that was simply the way things had become. Grabbing my bag, knowing the locks would give me a little extra time, I moved to my hiding spot. Being alone wasn’t the best of all situations for me to be in. At the same time being around people didn’t always work out for me, especially once they found out what I was, so I’d made the decision it was probably better for me to be alone, no matter how much I would like to have someone there for protection. Fortunately for me I found that when someone broke in they were looking for something else. Normally that something else was food, or some clothing. They never stopped to see if there was anyone in the house.
